Our Story
Thanks for stopping by! We’re The Space Order, based in China. Since 2022, we have released dozens of board game organizers — and this is our story.
It all began in the winter of 2022. When I first stepped into the world of tabletop gaming, I was instantly captivated by the stunning, intricate components that bring each game to life. But I also ran into a persistent pain point: most games lack a thoughtful system for sorting and storing all their pieces, turning setup and cleanup into a hassle that takes the shine off game night. That frustration sparked the idea of building custom, purpose-built organizers for board games.
Like most organizer brands, we started with humble beginnings — just one person working solo. Our very first organizer was created in a bathroom, chosen for its exhaust fan strong enough to vent away the smoke from laser-cutting wood panels. I loved the satisfaction of turning ideas in my head into tangible, usable products. After releasing a handful of designs and receiving all kinds of valuable feedback from fellow gamers, my pipeline of creative concepts kept growing faster than I could handle alone. I knew it was time to build out a team.
After years of steady growth, we now operate out of a 3,000+ square foot facility, and our team has expanded from one founder to nearly ten members. But our core mission has never wavered: to craft board game organizers that are genuinely practical, elevate your game night experience, and bring polished, functional style to every gaming shelf.
About The Space Order
Why The Space Order? We believe order is essential to great tabletop gaming — the order of components sorted inside the box, and the order of pieces laid out across the tabletop. When everything falls neatly into place, players can fully immerse themselves in the game, free from unnecessary friction and disruption.
Through repeated cycles of design, manufacturing, and player feedback, we have established a clear set of criteria for what makes an exceptional board game organizer:
Functionality
First and foremost, an organizer must deliver on practical utility. Our top design priorities include compatibility with premium card sleeves, effortless access to all game components, and zero lid lift — these are the foundational problems we address first in every project. Beyond core storage, we also integrate purpose-built accessories such as player dashboards to elevate the overall gameplay experience.
Durability
A quality organizer is built for long-term use, engineered to withstand weekly game sessions and regular handling. Powered by ultra-precise laser cutting and extensive iterative testing, all our organizers feature a glue-free, hand-assembled design that locks together into a rigid, stable structure. This level of fit and sturdiness is backed by design and manufacturing tolerances as tight as 0.005mm.
Aesthetics
Polished, thoughtful design boosts replay value and deepens immersion during every play session. Our aesthetic vision extends beyond theme-aligned silhouettes and detailed engravings. We craft intentional, ordered space — both inside the game box and on your tabletop — for a clean, cohesive look that elevates every game night.
Our Team
Our main office is based in Nanjing, China. Our team consists of three core departments: design, art, and production, each overseeing a dedicated stage in bringing a new game organizer to life.
For every new project, our process always starts with playing the game. We believe an organizer can only truly resonate with players if we first master the rules, experience the game’s style firsthand, and identify its real pain points from a gamer’s perspective.
Next, our design team addresses the core functional requirements — from overall component layout to features that enhance gameplay flow. This is consistently the most time-intensive phase of our entire workflow.
Our art team then takes the reins, adding theme-aligned artwork and precision engravings that match the game’s identity. Where appropriate, we also refine the shape of the insert trays to deliver a more distinctive and immersive visual style.
Finally, the project is handed off to our production team, who run multiple rounds of prototyping and testing to ensure every detail meets our exacting standards.
Materials
Most of our products are crafted from three core materials: basswood plywood, clear acrylic, and flocked EVA foam mats.
Basswood Plywood
Basswood plywood is manufactured by pressing and bonding multiple layers of wood veneer. It boasts a natural wood grain and is ideally suited for laser cutting and engraving. Our wood is environmentally friendly and sustainably sourced, holding FSC certification — meaning the timber comes from locally managed, sustainable forest resources.
Clear Acrylic
All acrylic components across our product line are precision-cut from sheets made with 100% virgin raw materials, never inferior recycled feedstock.
Flocked EVA Foam Mats
For organizers built for games with miniatures, we use flocked EVA foam mats to secure models in place. The soft foam provides gentle, snug retention for your miniatures. Unlike standard plain EVA foam mats, we line the surface with a layer of flocked fabric for a premium, refined finish.
